Many have emailed me asking "wassup with the slow uptake on SheBreathes?". I know it's been slow, in fact it's been downright quiet at times. I'm not lacking content. I'm not shutting it down. What I have been doing is putting the finishing touches on Sejais. I've also been in a small little legal tiff over the name. But we're working-it-out amicably. This bit of news lacks details, because it's part of business. Clearly the world is big and sometimes two extremely creative people, who have never met, have similar name ideas. We're working on it, but know the magazine is DONE. It has 350 pages, and only 25 pages of ads {smile}.
As far as what else has kept me traveling and busy? Well, I've been asked for four years, by various people "Where can I find the designer you just featured?" Well, SheBreathes aims to answer those questions via our still under construction SHOPSHEBREATHES.COM, which will include my collaborative label ZEROthreeTEN, which has been under beautiful wraps {creative think tank/production) for the last six months, with the final product being delivered in six weeks!
As many of you already know, I design shoes and handbags. I have a consulting firm. Despite all that I do daily, I have maintained a decent amount of clients that I do private-labels for, etc. About six months ago I was asked to create a line of shoes for a certain emerging designer in NYC. This designer suggested it be an X for X situation, thus ZEROthreeTEN was born. We will only offer the shoes I created for her label via SHOPSHEBREATHES, which will debut in her SS2011 collection.
Overall, SHOPSHEBREATHES will carry limited editions, collaborations, and the most obscure designers around. I've constructed a shop that I can only hope you like. It's curated down to the best bones. It will also have a heavy dose of Brasil, like a few designers I discovered on my last trip home. What's been amazing about this particular journey is, all the designers I've reached-out too, with the idea, have created product strictly for SheBreathes. From shoes, bags, to coats, beautiful basics, to jewelry, and a few surprises in between! I've always, always, always wanted to do outerwear, and I've gotten the chance with ZEROthreeTEN. Again, a very limited selection label.
Have questions about the shop? Please email info{at}shopshebreathes{dot}com. Questions about ZEROthreeTEN? Email me directly. Designers, the awesome buyer is my sister, Patrina De Carvalho-Molière, who is based in Paris and Rio. She can be reached at buyer{at}shopshebreathes{dot}com.
Stick around as we modify and change. In the meantime listen to this awesome tune by Janelle Monae, it's pretty slick for Good Friday. Thanks to Afrobella for sharing this video!
