Shop Love | Chariots on Fire

I love discovering new places to shop online, like jewelry e-shop, Chariots on Fire, which was started by two lovely ladies who collect beautiful things, Ritz Yagi and Oriana Reich. The shop is a treasure trove of pretty things from amazing designers. One of the designers they carry, is Paris-based jewelry designer Marion Vidal, whose architecturally-shaped statement necklaces are made with ceramics, ribbons, wood, and other lovely textiles, and is a favourite of mines {seen above and below}.

There is also the amazing work of London-based jewelry designer Ruth Tomlinson, whose opulent Hoard collection is filled with lovely gold and silver rings and earrings, topped with pearls, amethyst, aquamarine, and antique glass beads, which you can see below.

Editor's Pick | Lulu Frost Spring/Summer 2011

Lulu Frost's S/S 2011 presentation at Milk Studios was filled-to-the-brim with elegant ladies who collect beautiful things while traveling. Designer Lisa Salzer dubbed the collection, Modern Pioneers — inspired by her travels across the northeast and Canada. The models were clad in vintage outfits, provided by Amarcord, and adorned with jewelry that was a mix of silver, turquoise and antique brooches. With the Native American head nickels, porcupine quills, pearl and bone necklace with bird pins being the toppers, all of which popped against the natural light. The scene wouldn't have been complete without weather-worn leather trunks revealing found objects and treasures, while the Storms played in the background. It was one of the best full scale presentations by a jewelry designer, thus why it's an editor's pick! But let me warn you now, below is nothing but arm, ear, hair, and neck candy!

A Twist On Vintage Jewelry

Along with vintage fashion I've always adored vintage jewelry. I've been gradually building my collection and have become more intrigued since discovering reworked vintage jewelry. In tune with the popular green phenomenon, designers are working overtime to stay aware and create sustainability through their work. With the heightened demand for exclusivity in fashion increasing every second, this just may be the route to go.

One of my recent finds (thanks to Ms. Shoo) is Sid Vintage by designer Natalie Bennett. She fuses dead stock vintage chains with gaudy baubles to create complete lines of statement pieces, like earrings, rings, bracelets, and necklaces.

Then there is House of Lavande which has an exquisite offering of couture vintage jewels that will leave you breathless. You'll find amazing craftsmanship like those of famed jewelers like Kenneth Jay Lane, YSL, and Trifari. 

 

And it was Reverie that motivated to do this post after viewing a few pieces online — which were totally captivating. The designer Alison Woodward has mastered the ability to use vintage materials to create a modern look throughout her collections.
