FashionRio | Têca // Isabela Capeto // Juliana Jabour

I've featured Têca before and it's one of the few collections during FashionRio that I couldn't resist. The floral prints, the make-up, the energy, it was all very beautiful. There was also a military theme running through the collection, and despite me feeling like I had seen some of the silhouettes before and of course the trend, it had enough of a mix to keep me interested.

Isabela Capeto closed FashionRio Summer Verão/Summer 2011 and she offered-up her signature style of eclectic mixes of print and flirty dresses. It's always been about the details with Isabela, so it's not hard to fall head-over-heels in love with a lot of what she creates. Each piece really needs to be seen in person to appreciate how much work goes into them. And while I wasn't smitten with everything, I did like a healthy offering of what she was serving.

I've been waiting for Juliana Jabour to breakout of her tried and true mode. While, the collection is wearable, cute, and stays on trend with what her vision is, to me it's too safe. Juliana can truly be the next big designer from Brasil, if she left some of that 80's baby fever behind and was bolder with her collections. I feel her brimming under the surface but not taking the design reigns by the horn. But despite all of this, I will continue to watch her, because I believe eventually she'll leave the trends behind and let her design voice shine through. But know you can always count on her accessories to cause a stir!

Collections | FashionRio Verão/Summer 2011

Oi darlings from Rio! I couldn't wait to share some of the collections at FashionRio Verão/Summer 2011that I liked, please note my fotos {backstage + a few runway shots} will be added later this week here. FashionRio has been cool, despite the funky weather. From Walter Rodrigues' ethnic infused collection with gorgeous earth tones, and models to match the beautiful arrays of brown. To Maria Bonita Extra offering-up some snazzy printed pieces, to Acquastudio, which took us on a sculptural journey. And Totem with their cute printed dresses. There were pieces form each that I liked. All of which I'm sharing below, and all of who have been shared in my "Discover Brasil" series sans Rodrigues.

Acquastudio is a favourite of mines, as I've written about them a few times. They break-up the print drenched inspiration that many designers were on. For Acquastudio it was all about the pleats, tucks, ruffles being molded into sculptural shapes for the body.

I haven't featured a Totem collection in a long time, so it's with pleasure that I share these pieces that caught my eye during the show.

Maria Bonita Extra, who I've featured more than once had pretty pops of silky colour. And they kept with their them of mixing prints with pieces you wouldn't expect.

Oi, Tudo bem {Fashion Rio + SP}

Oi darlings! I know it's been slow around here lately and that makes me sad. I've been a bit busy with the final touches on Sejais, getting the ShopSheBreathes website completed, ZerothreeTen lookbook completed, and planning the 5th anniversary for the Baby Selah Foundation charity event. But next week I will have all new features and a few goodies {giveaways} to kickoff the summer!

In the meantime I will be flying to Rio tonight for FashionRio Verão 2011. Goldie is already in Rio covering the shows. And I'm so excited because one of my favourite Brasilian designers, Walter Rodrigues had all black {Afro-Brasilian} models to present his collection! If any of you have been following SheBreathes a long time, you know this is a feat to be celebrated! Below is a video I snapped-up from FFW, which is one of my favourite Brasilian fashion websites. I hope this holds you over until we get our coverage up, which by the way will be at SheBreathes.net {with announcements on here}. Click over because Tamra has been uploading shows from the various fashion weeks that we've covered. This is the repository for all shows/events, etc that we can't fit on here but still think are worthy of highlighting, so do keep the link handy if you're a fashion show/events lover!
