Layer-up with Vladimir Karaleev

Berlin-based Bulgarian designer, Vladimir Karaleev's S/S '12 collection was one of our favourites during Berlin Fashion Week. There was a conceptual ease to the entire presentation, which was suited for his expertly cut skirts and cut-out dresses, which were paired with breezy blouses, vests, and cropped blazers. The colour palette moved from lush mustards and yellows, soft greys and purples, to electric blues and blacks with a dash of burgundy. All which added to the beauty of the angled pieces. This is the type of collection that I can get lost in, because the styling options are plentiful.

In Berlin | Collect Showroom

During Berlin Fashion Week, we had the pleasure of stopping by Collect Showroom, and seeing some of our favourite designer collections up close. We perused the offerings of Esther Perbandt, fabulous knit-makers Maiami, new fashion favourite Reality Studio, Julian Zergerli, JULIAANDBEN, and a few more designers that we'll be featuring in the coming weeks. Highlights | Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin A/W 2011

A few months ago we covered Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin, but up until now my external hard-drive had been holding the photos hostage — thanks to my tech guy for recovering most of the photos over the weekend! I apologise for the delay, but I still wanted to highlight some of the shows that my Contributing Editor in Berlin/Amsterdam — Stephanie Afrifa and I attended. More shows are coming in July, in which Stephanie will be attending. So, expect more beautiful collections coming from Berlin — in a timely fashion of course, because Berlin is a hub for the truly talented.

Irene Luft's A/W 2011 collection, which was filled with the structured sexy. I loved the top-knots, the knits, and the tailored coats. A few highlights above and below.

Vladimir Karaleev is another designer who we had the chance to see during Berlin Fashion Week. His collection was filled with beautiful coats that could be dresses, and dresses that could be coats, and a slew of relaxed looks that we couldn't get enough of.

Chic Wearables | Michael Sontag A/W 2011/12

BERLIN — Michael Sontag's A/W 2011/12 presentation at Berlin Fashion Week was full of the fluid, over-sized, and wearable. Each piece was presented like a piece of art in an outdoor gallery. It was a great way to see the pieces on their own as well as a group. One of my favourites is a lime-green silk gown, that gathered in the shoulders — the back is just as beautiful as the front. The chunky knits, wide-legged trousers, and rose-pink and black silk dresses are also hits. The colours and shapes throughout the collection feel fresh, and further solidifies his place as the new favourite in Berlin.
