About Founder/Editor DS De Carvalho
DS De Carvalho is a writer, shoe, and handbag designer, with a boutique consulting/design firm in New York City, that helps clients in Europe and Japan launch thier shoe and handbag collections. She studied and honed her design skills in Italy under the watchful eyes of local artisans, and at Parsons School of Design under the watchful eye of Professor Howard Davis. She hones her writing skills at NYU. In 2008 she created SheBreathes Media with her business partner, Brett Matthers to house all their online and print media projects, which includes SheBreathes.com. She's been featured in Clam Magazine, while the blog has numerous mentions online and in Lucky Magazine.
DS De Carvalho created SheBreathes.com in January of 2006 with just an idea, love, and need for supporting emerging, indie, and established designers from a global perspective. She knew that the internet would be a great place to showcase designers to a wider audience. To make SheBreathes a virtual hub of disoveries. She added the menswear companion site, HeBreathes.com in March of 2009 to compliment SheBreathes.com. She is constantly looking for ways to grow the brand, which lead her to opening Shop SheBreathes, an e-tailer component that offers hard-to-find designers, who create pieces exclusive to the shop.
