NEW YORK — Gary Graham's F/W 2011 collection was presented at his boutique in Tribeca during NYFW. The collection was filled models who rocked Joan Jett like mullets, chucks {converse} in a variety of colours, and clothes that showed an eclectic mix of prints and styles that worked. There was never a dull moment, in fact the collection felt jubilant and free. And, while the wigs were distracting, we could still appreciate the beauty in each piece.
Gary Graham's collections are often well researched, so it's no surprise to me that he didn't just give us what we expected for Fall, but he had a bit of fun with it. This allowed the batik print to become the foundation of a collection filled with folklore and a 80's rock 'n roll vibe. The core of this collection screams the Graham brand proudly, because no one does pretty layered light knits paired with long flowing skirts, beautiful batik leggings, or short body-con dresses paired with socks and pumps like he does. And no one encourages you more, to let your eclectic flag fly freely in fashion.
