It's no secret that Jeremy Laing is a favourite of mines. I've been a supporter of the designer and his collections for a few seasons now. But, I needed a bit of space from fashion week to give his current collection it's proper due. While in past collections Laing shared his creations as a presentation, it made sense that this would be the collection presented on a runway for real time absorption. While, known for his prints, Laing's S/S 2011 collection was all about flowing fabric (there was one print on a flowing dress, which is very special), and his signature angular shapes. And while he indulged in the sheer theme, Laing offered a different perspective by layering the pieces in a new way. From glowing one-sleeved goddess dresses, body-hugging panneled dresses that were paired with leather minis, to viscose jersey dresses with their perfect slits — each piece draped and clung in all the right places. Laing offered a sexy wearable narrative that was welcomed with open arms, by those of us who sat in awe of what came down the runway. With this collection he continues his progression towards becoming a household name. It's also the collection I can't wait to get my hands on.
