During a recent trip back home {Bahia — Rio Vermelho} I was trying to find a way to up the ante in the designers I share from my home country — Brasil. I think it's important that people know that we're not all sand and sex, thus why I started the Discover Brasil series over three years ago. I wanted to ensure that the emerging designers from Brasil received exposure as well. Which is why it's with pleasure that I introduce São Paulo-based Brasilian designer Cynthia Hayashi, who is an emerging designer that deserves a global audience. I love the romanticism of her Verão {Summer} 2011 collection, that was shown during the Projecto Lab. There are butterfly details in paper and metal with some pieces wrapped in Português on fabric that's often reserved for lingerie. All of which creates a very dreamy collection of covet-worthy pieces. Not only does she capture the imagination with several body-con silhouettes, she also indulges you visually by over-indulging in the embellishment department. Ms. Hayashi doesn't have a website yet but you can explore more of her work on flickr. I will have more from this designer soon, so stay tuned.

Many thanks to my sister Patrina — ShopSheBreathes's buyer for running around Rio + SP with me, and knowing which designers are waiting to burst in Brasil! I have more, so much more to share from my trip and plenty of discoveries from Brasil not yet shared on the interwebs. Expect them in doses over the next few weeks {smile}.
