I've been a huge fan of London-based designer Maaike Mekking ever since I featured her designs back in the beginning of '08. A few weeks ago I received her S/S 2010 lookbook and had a chance to thoroughly peruse it. I love that this collection has a lot of silk and jersey pieces. While, there was so much to love about it, there are a few pieces that are standouts — the voluminous black trench, the strapless hand-painted dress in white and sea green, the hand-printed trousers and trench, with the cut-outs on several pieces being the cherry topper. I also found the pleated trousers intriguing and love them styled with the white tank. Maaike continues to create collections that are filled with just enough whimsy to keep her at the top of my list. Her expert hands makes each piece seem as if as if it was tailored just for you.
