Feliz Ano Novo!

I wanted to get on here and wish everyone a very beautiful + blessed New Year! I'm gearing up for the next giveaway which will will be in honour of the 3rd year anniversary of SheBreathes!

This has been an interesting year for me. This blog has grown, and it's coming-up on 3 years I've been doing this. I can't believe it's been that long, but it has. Not to mention I've gained new friends and lost some. I received a new love, and I say received because it's an honour to know and love another human being completely. To not love in fear but to know that despite what the future may hold you were blessed to know real love, is amazing.

I feel truly blessed because my company has flourished and I'm not scared to keep moving forward. I started a foundation in honour of my daughter, which is making beautiful strides. We celebrated her 3rd year anniversary, and for the first time tears didn't spill over from pain, but joy. I've learned a lot and let go of a lot. I'm happy. I'm free. I hope you are too. The fire in me has never subsided, it's brimming over. Time is a great healer. And while 2008 was neither good or bad, it was and I'm grateful for the lessons and progress made.

I've learned to never hold anything that doesn't want to be held. Always Live. Fear will get you nowhere. Be Free. Fight for your dreams. Never give up. And always be you in this sea of sameness. Be beautifully human. If you've made mistakes know it's okay to forgive yourself. And it's empowering to forgive those who have hurt you. These are the things that have remained true for me and kept me sane through the years. I welcome 2009 with open arms, I hope you do too.

I leave you with a new unreleased song from Lauryn Hill, "World is a Hustle" provided by Okayplayer. I feel it's apropos and while it's long, it's classic Lauryn Hill. Get renewed, because that's how I feel after listening.

Light + Airy | Trosman

I love these pieces from Trosman, by Buenos Aires-based designer Jessica Trosman. They're pretty and appeal to the side of me that adores light + airy clothes. I also love the pretty pops of colour against muted tones. I may have to take a trip to Argentina before I leave Brasil, just to get a glimpse into her world. You can see more here.

Wishlist: Kimberly McDonald

I've featured Kimberly McDonald's Rockas jewelry line before and loved what she was doing. So it's no surprise that when I recently revisited her virtual space, I fell head-over-wallet for the pieces below. They're from her eponymous collection and everything is excessively beautiful and dreamy. Not to mention quoting the amazingly talented Khalil Gibran will earn you a permanent spot on my list of wishes.

These pieces make me long for this recession to end, but since wishing doesn't cost anything I'm going to keep on dreaming {smile}.

Pouf + Tulle: Jan Taminiau

I recently revisited Jan Taminiau and noticed I've never shared my adoration for his work on here. I always find inspiration in his work, because it's often whimsical and beautiful. I adore the following pieces from his S/S 09 collection because of the antique and romantic energy each piece exudes. The "pouf and tulle" {a term I use to describe anything that reminds me of my impending nuptials, hehe} effect is making my heart beat a little faster. The F/W 08 collection is equally inspiring, so be sure to visit and indulge. You'll love how the collections are presented, it's very unique + fun. A special nod to the always innovative Iconique for their work in helping Mr. Taminiau with his virtual space.

Wool + Birchwood: Ontwerpduo

I love, love, love these cute purses from Dutch design duo Nathan Wierink and Tineke Beunders, of Ontwerpduo. The "Something old, Something new" bags are made from old wool blankets, and it's the birchwood handles that are new. They're a perfect last minute stocking stuffer, News Years gift, or just something special you'd like to have. They have so much more to discover, so be sure to click and explore.

Tailored + Chic: Jolibe

I've been an admirer of Dominican designer Joel Diaz since the conception of his label Jolibe, with his partner Christina LaPens in 2007. I love that that their collections are always filled with pieces that look like they've been tailored to perfection. I'm smitten with the coats from the A/W 08 collection!
