I recently received the book New Shoes: Contemporary Footwear Design as a gift from a very cool friend. Thanks to him I've been devouring it during all my free time, and inhaling it in doses so I can soak it all in.
The book consists of mini interviews/profiles on contemporary footwear designers, like Rupert Sanderson, Pierre Hardy, Nicole Brundage, Bruno Frisoni, Nicholas Kirkwood, Sergio Rossi, Jenne O, Max Kibardin, Minna Parikka, and so many more. It's been fun to read their opinions, how they view the creative process, especially as someone who does this for a living as well, but hasn't quite debuted yet. This book is filled with great information, loads of beautiful sketches, photography, and quotes. It's definitely worthy of being in the library of anyone who loves shoes as much as I do, or plan on studying them.
